- hen of the woods mushrooms at the base of oaks. unmistakable and choice.
- spicebush berries, bright red, drying well for a spice like allspice.
- goldenrod flowers, despite what people think they do not cause allergies. dry for tea.

fall foraging is nuts and fruits and mushrooms. the woods are giving away everything before the cold. walk with a bag in your pocket.
